Their elegant originality is most striking in images of the natural world depicted on folding screens and scrolls by Sotatsu, Korin, Okyo, Rosetsu, Shohaku and many others who left their art unsigned.

Description: A lecture and slideshow on the history of Japanese brush painting, and how it came together with bonsai. Kristy will discuss the symbolism and folklore tales within these paintings. The presentation will also include a group discussion on choosing the right painting for your home, and elements to look for when displaying in a bonsai exhibit. Discussion is encouraged, handouts are provided. This lecture is geared toward the bonsai community, but is also appropriate for artists and art lovers.
