Join renowned bonsai artist Chris Baker for an intensive hands-on bonsai development workshop designed to help participants improve their trees and expand their skills through guided instruction over multiple sessions.

This unique workshop series begins in September 2026 and continues through March 2029, providing long-term guidance and development of your bonsai material.

Schedule

  • First Class: Saturday, September 5, 2026

  • Second Class: Saturday, March 13, 2027

  • Continuing every September and March through March 2029

  • Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Location
Chicago Botanic Garden
(Classroom location will be provided to registered participants.)

Workshop Format

Each participant will bring:

  • Two bonsai trees

  • One primary tree for development

  • One backup tree in case the primary tree becomes unsuitable during the program

This format allows both experienced enthusiasts with advanced material and newer members with developing trees to benefit from the workshop.

Class Size

Enrollment is limited to 6 participants to ensure personalized instruction and quality one-on-one time with Chris.

$80 per class

Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once all six seats are filled, additional interested participants may be placed on a waiting list.
