Mary,
Yes, there are a limited number of bonsai classes in the area.
First, the Midwest Bonsai Society will be giving beginner classes to their new members starting Monday, March 6 at 7:00PM. They will be
given before their meeting. Classes will start at 7:00 on that
Monday. Some of the more intensive classes will be held on the
weekend because they will take quite a bit of time.
You would have to be a member in order to take these classes. Membership cost is $30. Later in the series there will be a
materials cost of about $75.00. This cost is for a tree which you
will work on and the necessary material to pot the tree.
I just received an announcement that classes will be held at the
Chicago Botanic Garden. The classes will be given by one of the
premier artists in the Mid West, Ivan Watters.
I am trying to find some qualified classes in the area but no luck so far.
If you are interested in Ivan's class, I will e-mail you the contact
and cost info on Monday next.

Thank you for your response. The Botanic Garden is a glorious place, but a bit of a trip for me, since I do not own a car.
Thank you.

Mary,
No, I thank you/
For some time in our newsletter, I have been asking for information on classes given in the Chicago area.
Our newsletter, since it only reaches 200 people is the wrong place to run this request. Thinking about your problem leads me to know that I need to ask for class info on our web site which reaches a bigger audience.
It will go on the web site as quickly as possible.
