Friday, August 15, 2 P.M. Introduction to Bonsai
 
  James Fairchild, President of Midwest Bonsai Society, will describe the basics of bonsai to introduce the Art of Bonsai to viewers, using sample trees to show what to look for.  A brief demonstration - the beginning of shaping a bonsai - will follow.

  Ivan Watters will present a demonstration at this time, topic TBA.
 
Saturday, August 16, 2 P.M. Guy Guidry, Guest Artist
 
  Guy Guidry, our guest artist and judge this year, will shape and style a large collected boxwood, the first step in creating a bonsai.  He will discuss techniques and choices made in the process.  Guy is widely respected for his skills with collected trees, and admired for his teaching skills.
 
Sunday, August 17, 10 A.M. The Creation of Saikei
 
  Phil Malhiot will create one of his award winning Saikei (landscape bonsai), this one using a 3 foot rock on which he will place up to 5 trees and several accent plants.  Several of Phil's Saikei won top awards two years ago.  He is a great presenter.
 
Sunday, August 17, 2 P.M.  Miniature Bonsai
  William Valavanis will present a PowerPoint program on the history, care, species suitable, training techniques, and display of shohin bonsai.  A demonstration will follow.  Discover the wonderful world of miniature bonsai!
